It was a triumphant return to the ice for the Frogs, as they swept East Texas Baptist University in their first series of the 2016-2017 season. The Frogs had to travel to Shreveport, Louisiana to play against ETBU, in their first ever games as a collegiate program. Junior Gunnar Roadfeldt said “the away fans created a great atmosphere for both games”.

In the first game of the weekend the Frogs came out firing, scoring three goals in the opening period. ETBU battled back, but it was Freshman Brady Winkler that ultimately stole the show, scoring 2 goals and also getting 2 assists to help the Frogs to a 7-4 victory in their first game back. New goalie Nick Magusiak was able to get the win in his first ever game as a Frog.

The second game was much tighter and more a of a challenge for the Frogs. After giving up two first period goals, the Frogs battled back scoring a goal in each period, in order to win 3-2. Captain Brett Jacobson led the way in the second game, scoring two goals, including the game winning goal. Senior goalie Thomas Scoggin was able to hold off the ETBU offense in the second and third periods in order to earn his first win of the season.

The Frogs are off to a hot start in the 2016-2017 season, and hoping to continue the momentum into their next series against the DBU Patriots.
